Funerals at DCC

Walking With You in Times of Loss

The death of a loved one is never easy. At DeWitt Community Church, it is our privilege to walk with families through this time of grief, offering comfort and hope in Christ. This policy is meant to guide families in planning a Christian funeral or memorial service.

Service Options
Families may choose a private graveside service, a memorial service at the church, or a service at a funeral home.

Scheduling
Funeral and memorial services are scheduled in consultation with the church office, based on clergy and building availability. Services cannot be confirmed without church approval. The church will work closely with the family and the funeral home in planning.

Officiating
Services at DeWitt Community Church are led by our clergy.  Outside ministers may assist, but only at the invitation of the officiating DCC minister.

Service Structure & Music
Funerals and memorials are services of Christian worship. Families may suggest readings, music, or other elements, with approval from the pastor. Music must be appropriate for worship and arranged through the Director of Worship Arts. Hymns and sacred music are encouraged; videos or pre-recorded music cannot be used.

Displays & Décor
Families may display photos or mementos if they are suitable for a worship setting. No nails, tacks, or adhesives may be used on church property. All displays must be removed within two hours after the service.
